WAI-ITI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the Wai-iti School Committee was held on Monday evening. Present —Mr Ogilvie, (Chairman) and Messrs Lewis, T. W- Eyfe, and Townsend.

Four names of persons nominated for the . vacant seat on the Education Board were submitted, namely those of Messrs Walcot, Talbot, Butler and Dr Foster.

The Committee decided to record their vote for Mr Walcot.

A circular was received from the Education Board suggesting that the day of the general election should be a school holiday. It was decided that the Committee saw no sufficient reason for giving a holiday that day. The accounts of the late concert in aid of the prize fund were submitted, which showed that a net balance of £l4 2s 3d had been obtained.

It was resolved to expend £7 of the sum upon prizes, to be distributed on breaking-up day, and the Chairman and Mr Walker the head master were appointed to select the prizes. It was resolved also to expend £2 upon cleaning the school ground. The Christmas holidays were fixed to commence on Dec 23, and to terminate on Feb. 6.
