It is officially announced that the appointment of Mr W. J. Sendall as Lieutenant-Governor of Natal, has been cancelled by the Government, who thus accede to the wishes of the Natal colonists. It is further announced that in providing a successor to Sir Evelyn. Wood, Government will appoint a full Governor of the colony instead of a Lieutenant Governor as in the past, thus still further meeting the views of the colonists as recently expressed. PromotionAn official statement has been pub lished to the effect that Sir Garnet Wolseley, at present QuatermasterGencral, will, in April next, succeed General Sir 0. 11.
