An injunction has been granted in the Supreme Court, calling upon Commodore Wilson to show cause why he should not be committed for contempt of Court for ordering the re-arrest of the deserting bandsman Yates, after he had been previously discharged by Judge Higginbotham on the ground that he could not he treated as a deserter. The debate on Mr Ramsay’s motion is still proceeding in the Assembly. The division will take place on Tuesday next. The trial of Thorpe, late teller of the Bank of Victoria, for embezzlement is proceeding. Further irregularities have been disclosed by the evidence. News is to hand from the Islands reporting that the trading schooner Atlantic, while visiting the Solomon Group, was attacked by the natives in a most determined manner. A desperate fight tookplacejbetween the crew of the vessel, and the islanders, during which several Kanakas composing the crew were killed, but the natives were finally beaten off. Sydney, Nov. 4. The report of Mr Julian E. Salamons, Q.C., the Royal Commissioner appointed to enquire into theMilburn Greeek copper mine affair, has issued hia report. He finds that Messrs Garrett, Waddel, and Russell were guilty of bribery and corruption ; and further, that a sum of £4,500 was appropriated by Mr Baker, formerly Minister of Mines, and Messrs Waddel and Matchison.
