TWO REMARKABLE GIRLS.
Two young girls—one 20, the other 22 —have for the past four years had control of a farm of 160 acres near Frostburg, Penn. They have ploughed, sowed, reaped, built fences, and performed all the other duties incident to a pastoral life. In addition to their outside duties they have had the care of an invalid and widowed mother. One of the girls is also a shoemaker, and all work of that kind used by the family is executed by her. They have also made all the carpets necessary to cover the floors of their large and commodious bouse. They have painted a number of farm scenes and family portraits in oil, and filled up vacant spots on the walls with waxwork. They are both good scholars and excellent musicians.
