MELBOURNE’ MARKETS
McGregor, Gordon and Co. report for the week ending Sept 7, as follows •: — Breadstnl'fs.—'ince our , lust report we have sold prime milling wheat at 5s 7d. Yesterday at the Corn ; Exchangc wc submitted 500 sacks and were offered 5s Gd, which was declined. The market both for wheat and flour is easier. : - Oats —Wc have sold 4500 sacks ex Ringarooma and store at the following prices Stout feed, at Bs Id; good at Bs medium at 3s 2d ; inferior at Bs. The country' districts’ are drawing upon our stocks, and prices are firm and have an upward tendency. English barley at Bs Gd ; feed barley, Bs 2d;, peas, Bs lOd, Grass Seeds —Our entire, stocks of rye grass we cleared at Gs Gd Cheese is scarce, prime at 4;,-d to sd; good at -lid ; medium at B|d. Stocks are light. Hams, 7d ; bacon, s£d ; honey, IJpT. From the report of the N.Z.L. and M.A. .Co. dated Bept 7, wc extract the following : Wool—The new clip is coming in, sales that have been made produced current rates. , Grain—The breadstuff market is at present in .an unsettled state. Owing to the improved prospects of the English harvest the price of wheat there has receded, and this market has suffered in sympathy therewith. Wheat —Nominally prime is quoted from 5s Gd to 5s 7d; medium to good 5s 2d to 5s Id, and inferior to medium, 5s to os Id. Barley—Feeding is worth from Bs Id to, Bs Bd, and malting has found buyers up to Bs 71 per bushel. Oats have been moving rathorfreely from Bs Id to Bs 41,d for common feeding, and stout up to Bs Gc. DUNEDIN MARKETS. The N.Z.L. and M.A. Company report: —Wheat—Prime milling is in demand, and would bring up to -Is Ud. Wo sold ordinary samples a- Is to -Is 4d, and at auction yesterday fowls’ wheat, up’ to ■Bs • Bid. Oats—We-held an auction sale on Tuesday, and (putted nearly all the lots at prices ranging from Is IUI-d for ordmaiy, to 2s lid fur good bright, feeding sorts ; milling may be quoted at 2a 2d to 2s Bd. Barley—ln the absence of any good samples, we have nothing to report.
