LICENSING COURT.

(Before R. Bestliam, Esq., (Chairman), E. Elworthy, H. Belfield, and T. W. Hall, Licensing Commissioners.) A quarterly Licensing Court for the district was held to-day. RAILWAY HOTEL, POINT. The license of this Hotel was transferred from C. Burton to T. Geaney. onui hotel, A temporary transfer of the license of the Opihi Hotel from J. Nelson to G. Butler was granted. RAILWAY HOTEL, ALRURY. The Police report showed that a disorderly scene had occurred in this Hotel, and tiie licensee first denied that it had occurred and then admitted that there had been a family squabble, but “ that had nothing to do with the license.” The Chairman said he was mistaken there, ss family matters had a very great deal to do with the license, and such things as serious family jars would certainly have considerable influence with the Licensing Bench. In cautioning the licensee to avoid giving grounds for similar complaints, the Chairman took occasion to remark, however, that as far as his personal observation had gone, the manner in which the hotel had been conducted could hardly be impioved upon. The Bench expressed their pleasure at the generally satisf actor) report on the houses in the district, and the meeting then terminated.
