S. C. Times Office, Monday Evening. Mr Moss Jonas reports as follows : Horses. —Few are offering, and the market is very inactive, there being but little demad, with prices a shade lower than last quotations. It is a scarcely to be expected that there will be any alteration in Hie market for two months at the least, and improvement in prices till spring is fairly advanced must be of the most tran- • sient nature. Cattle.—Well-bred milch cows have brought good prices, ns they always will do, but for ordi ary dairy stock there is no enquiry. He has sold Ayshire eows in milk and to calve at from £lO to £lO 10s. He has sold 12 fat bullocks a £7 5s and 14 at £8 10s, a price eqaul to 22s 6d per 100 lbs. Sheep.—Several small lots have changed hands, his principal for the week being 550 merino owes in lamb at 6s 81. A slight reduction in value must be noted. He quotes mutton at 2|d. Property.—At his rooms, on Wednesday, he submitted a number of properties. The attendance at this sale was very good, and the competition for some of the lots keen, A farm of 1% acres on the Levels Plains was sold at a price equal to £IOB2 10s, and the sections both in Attenburrow township and the Attenburrow extension realised fair prices. The following are the particulars Attenburrow, sections Nos. 50 and 51, MrLeCren, at £6O each ; Nos. 52 and 58, Mr LcCren, at £65 each, AttcnhuiTO.v Extension—section No 11, Mr Perry £3l ; No 12, Mr Fraser, £34 ; No 14, Mr Sullivan, £4l ; No 15, Mr Fraser, £3l; No 17, Mr Daily, £37f Ho 18, Mr Perry, £BS ; Nos 10, 20 and 21, Mr Cook, at £3l each. Section No 103, in Wai-iti township, with lean-to thereon, £IOO, to Mr Daily. He has also so’d privately 25 acres at Wai-iti, adjoining the property of Mr llciley, to Mr S. Smith, at £45 acre. Property continues to rise steadily in value. Miscellaneous —On Tuesday at his rooms he held a sale of fruit and forest trees, and there being a very great quantity to dispose of, and all of excellent sorts, more than usual interest was taken in the sale, and a largo attendance of buyers caused the duty of the auctioneer to be a jJleasant one, every lot being sold, and that at good prices. Thursday’s sale of furniture was also a success in every way, a very large quantity being catalogued and cleared off at fair rates. His sale of produce on Saturday drew a crowd of buyers, and a considerable amount of business was done. He quotes : —Flour, 15s per sack (nominal) sharps, 7s 6d ; bran, 4s ; fowls’ corn, 6s to Ss per sack ; potatoes, 5s per sack ; onions, Id per lb; cheese, 4£ to od; butter, Is, fowls, 2s fid to Bs, and ducks, 4s to os per pair ; turkeys, 4s each.
Messrs William Collins and Co., report a good a! tendance at their regular weekly market and sale Ivy auction held by them at tlndr rooms on Saturday. The entries of farm produce were large. They succeeded in clearing the rooms at the following figures, which must be highly satisfactory to the owners: —Bacon pigs, 3,Jd to ■ld per lb; hams and bacon, guaranteed, quality, ud to 7d; do, all faults, 3d to 4d ; Akaroa cheese, lid ; locally made do, 3d to 3.1 ; honey, in casks, Bel to •id; fresh butter, ( .Jd to lOd f potatoes, 00s per ton, onions, none offering, good samples are worth £lO per ton; oats, 2s per bushel; fowl wheat us to 7s per sack ; Hour, 20sdo ; legs merino mutton, Is each; fowls, 2s 0J to 3s per pair. Household furniture, crockery, books, saddlery, and box teas were in good demand at satisfactory rates.
