THE SCHOONER MAGGIE PATERSON ASHORE.
SECOND EDITION
[Bt Telegraph.] Wellington, _ July 20. The topsail schooner iVlaggie Paterson ran ashore at the Heads near the lighthouse this morning. The pilot was unable to cross to her owing to the heavy sea running, but a signal has been hoisted from the scene of the disaster that the crew are saved. She is 81 tons register, and believed to bo owned by J, Anderson and two others of Dunedin. It is not' known from what point she comes, but it is thought from the South with brcadstuffs. She is in sured in the National for £I2OO of which £450 is re-insured in the New Zealand office. A strong southerly gale is blowing. LATER. The Maggie Paterson is from Greymouth to Dunedin with coal, and is owned by Messrs Keith, Ramsay and Co., of Dunedin. The Captain mentioned that the vessel is not likely to be much damaged.
