[Eeuteb’s Agency.} Brisbane, July 12. A fire broke out last night on premises in Queen street, opposite the theatre, which was speedily extinguished, but not before some damage was done. The insurances include policies iu the following New Zealand, amongst other, offices :—New Zealand Company, £530; South British Company, £2OO. Melbourne, July 12. The P. and O. Company’s steamship Venetia arrived here this morning with the inward Suez mails, dated London, June 3; The Union Company’s steamship Eotorua sailed for the Bluff this afternoon with the New Zealand portion of the English mails.
New Zealand oats are quoted to-day at 3s 6d. In consequence of tlie increase of small-pox in Sydney the Victorian Government is considering the advisability of taking further precautions to guard against the introduction of the disease into this colony. Parliament re assembled to-day after the adjournment. At the sitting in the Legislative Assembly there were only two members on the Government benches behind the new Ministers. The rest of the House was made up of members of the Opposition and the Corner Party. No business was transacted, and the House adjourned to the 28th to give time for the Ministerial re-elec-tions.
