Telegrams are to hand from Tunis announcing that the bombardment of Sfax by French war vessels has resulted in the partial destruction of the town. The Arabs are, however, still gathered in force in the neighborhood and continue to show a determination to resist Frence authority. A rebellious feeling exists throughout the Kairwan district. Intelligence has been received from Tunis reporting that the French fleet before Sfax is still engaged in shelling the town, and an attempt was made today to land a storming party under cover of the guns of the ships. The Arabs, however, who were in strong force, opened fired upon the boats, and the troops failed to effect a landing. Thirty Millon Sterling Rome, July 9. The loan which Messrs Bering Bros, and J. and C. Hambro and Co have engaged to float on behalf of the Italian Government is for £30,000,000, bearing interest at 5 per cent. The President’s Recovery.
