CANTERBURY CORN EXCHANGE.

CHBiaiCHtracH, July 8. The. following is the report lor the week snding Friday July 8: Business daring the week has been ex* ceedlngly quiet. The market, however, has a healthy tone, and prices although without alteration are firm.

Wheat.—Good Bound milling wheat is worth from 3a 8d to 8a lOd per bushel; exceptionally fine Tuscan, 4a per bushel; good seconds will command from 2s 6d to 2s Bd.per bushel; chick wheat Is fid to 2s fid per bushel. Oats.—Prices are firm at last week’s quotation?, good ?tout milling 2s Id to 2s 3d f.o.b, good feed quality Is 8d to Is lOd per bushel.

Barley —Good malting samples in fair demand, at from 2s 9d to 3s 6d per bushel; second-class quality 2s 3d to 2s 6d per bushel; feed quality la lOd to 2s Id per bushel; there is a pretty fair demand for the latter.

Potatoes.—Tlic market appears to be in the same volatile condition, which hacharacterised it bom the beginning, buyers and sellers being apparently uncertain as to the value of the) article A few sales have however taken place during the week at from 33s to 35s per ton at suburban railway stations, sacks extra, these are for imme date delivery, for forward delivery say in the middle of September 42s 6dto 45s per ton, and in some instances a shade over the highest quotation, in all sales sacks are extra. Grass Seed.—The market is very quiet and pructica’ly neglected, there is however, no change to report in values, which are firm at last week’s qnotations, viz., 4s 6d to 6s per bushel farmers’ samples well cleaned. Cocksfoot 3| to 3£d lb,

Cheese and Butter.—The former is still dull of sale at 3d to 3Jd per lb ; the latter is in fair demand at from 8d to B£d per lb. Hay,—£2 10s to £2 15s per ton delivered in Christchurch.
