THE SMALL-POX IN SYDNEY.

The following additional particulars regarding the presence of small pox in Sydney were brought by the Wakitipu, which arrived at Wellington yester. day:— Sydney, July 2. Regarding small-pox no new cases have been reported in Sydney, and there are strong grounds for the hope that the great danger is past. The medical authorities, however, are by no means assurred that the infection may not lurk in some parts of the city, nor will they be so for fully a month. The Chief Secretary of Victoria has been in communication with Sir Henry Parkes with reference to the steamship Ocean, now quarantined here, and the vessel will most likely be allowed to leave for Melbourne.

The latest news from the Quarantine Station is to the effect that a child of Mrs Hughes, who was some time ago reported to be suffering from small-pox, is sinking fast. Guildford, who was removed with his wife from Cumberland some time ago is undoubtedly ill of small-pox, and is receiving every attention that could possibly be paid him by a trained nurse and a medical staff at the quarantine station.

[By Cable.] Sydney, July 8. Another case of small-pox is reported this evening. The sufferer resides in the centre of the city, and is a young woman named Monaghan. A fresh case of small-pox has been reported to the authorities to-day from Glebe, one of the suburbs adjoining the city on the south-west.
