Local Directors. Auckland, July 6. At the local meet ing 0 f shareholders
of the Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Messrs Browning and Fish were re-elected directors, and W. J. Taylor, auditor. A Suspicious Case. Nelson, July 6. At the inquest on the fire at Jago’s house, the jury returned a verdict that it was accidentally burned. It was sought to be shown that a case of jewellery, insured in the Liverpool and London office for £IOO, had not been burnt, and Jngo and his son both agreed that the heat was not sufficient to destroy jewellery, but both swore to not having been able to find them or any trace of them since the fire, Moritzson's Case. Dunedin, July 6. The petitioners in Moritzson’s case are informed that the Governor cannot consider the petition so long as the case is before the Supreme Court, but when the charges are dealt with the petition will be considered. Off to the Diggings. The good accounts from the Cape diamond fields have induced six of the Dunedin police force to send in their resignations.
