CALEDONIAN LODGE NO. 534, S.C.
The members of the Caledonian Lodge of Freemasons, 534, 5.0., celebrated the festival of St. John at their hall, Bank street, last evening. The hall was crammed to excess, there being present a goodly number from the sister lodge of St. John 1137, E.C., and various other lodges in the district. Amongst the most prominent members of the craft were Bro. Thomas Kennedy, P.M. 537, S.C., Bro. W. H. Gledhill, S.W., of the same Lodge, Bro. W. M. Sims, P.M. 1137, E.C., Bro John King, P.M., 1137, E.C., Bro. W. Ramsay, P.M., 1229, E,C., Bro, J. A. Webb, P.M., 844, E.C., and Bros T. G. Rowley, Jacob Hill, and T. Machin, Past Masters of the Caledonion Lodge. The chair of the Lodge was filled by the Eight Worshipful Master Bro Thomas Turnbull. Tlie Lodge having been duly opened, the ceremony of initiation was gone through, and the annual report and balance sheet was read and adopted. After a short adjournment for refreshment,, the Lodge was again called to labour, when the installation of E.W.M, and office bearers for the ensuing year took place. Bro T. G. Eowley, P.M., as installing officer conducted the ceremony in a very efficient manner, Bro Jacob Hill, P.M., acting as master of the ceremonies. Shortly afterwards, the Lodge was closed in peace and harmony, and the hall being cleared, the tables were laid, when about fifty of the brethren sat down to a brilliant collation catered by Messrs Santon and Willcooks of Main South Eoad. Ample justice having been done to the good things provided, the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given, and duly responded to. The singing of the old and favorite Scotch melody “Auld Lang Syne," brought this very pleasant reunion to a close.
