S. 0, Times Office, Monday Evening. Messrs William Collins and Co. report holding their regular weekly auction at their rooms on Saturday last of produce, furniture, and general merchandise. The attendance, owing to the boisterous weather prevailing, was small in comparison with o'ther market days. The demand for edibles was good, but furniture and effects had to be passed in for future sales. They quote:—Derwent potatoes, 60s per ton for small quantities, 55s for large lines for export. Bran shows a tendency to rise in value as the winter advances; present figures, 70s to 80s ; sharps, 100 s; onions, 7s per cwt; cheese, 4d to 4Jd per lb; keg butter—we have two orders on hand of 50 kegs f.o.b. at Port Chalmers, at 9d per lb ; holders of any first-class samples should communicate with us ; oats, good feed, Is 8d to Is 9d ; fowl wheat, 5s to 7s per sack ; barley—all they had on hand was bought up for horse feed at 5s to Cs per sack; bacon 6d to 7d per lb, with a good enquiry ; box teas, 14s 6d to 15s ; sperm candles, 8J ; white sugar, 4£d ; soap, 7s per box. Other groceries at owners’ reserves.
