TEARING- UP THE RAILWAY AND TELEGRAPH LINES.

London, June 7

News has been received from Ireland tliat a large number of people assembled to-day at Tramore, in tbo County of Waterford, to attend a meeting called by the Land League agitators. The authorities having learned that the meeting was to be held, had previously despatched a large force to the neighborhood, and as soon as the people as sembled the police arrived on the scene and dispersed the meeting. Some resistance was offered by the rnob, but no serious disturbance occurred.

The Government have within the past few days had the position of in Ireland under consideration.r Several meetings of the Cabinet have.been held to discuss the matter, and it has transpired that it has been decided that the authorities in Ireland should maintain a very firm altitude, and adopt the strongest possible measures to suppress the increasing disorder. June 8, Accounts to hand to-day from Ireland continue to give further evidence of tiie alarming state of the country. Numerous further arrests of prominent agitators and suspected persons have been made during the past few' days under the Coercion Act, and active steps are being taken by the authorities to stop all meetings called together by the Land League. A large number of people assembled yesterday at Mullingar, in the County of Westmeath, hut the police were despatched to the scene, and the meeting was prohibited and the crowd dispersed. At Shrule, in the County rMayo, yesterday, a scene occurred betw ocn the police and peasantry,who asasembled in crowds to prevent an ejectment, Severe fighting took place, and several of the rioters were arrrested. The mob, however, again attacked the police, and rescued the prisoners after a further conflict. News is to hand from Cork that the roads in the district have been bestroyed, and telegraph lines have been cut in several places. A large detachment of troops lias accordingly been despatched to traverse the country and prevent further outrages. Later intelligence from Ireland reports that further riots have occurred in Shrule, in County Mayo, between the police and the peasantry', but disturbances are now subsiding, the rioters having been almost entirely' dispersed. Attempts were made last night on railways to wreck trains conveying troops to disaffected districts. The lines were torn up in several places, but owing to the vigilance of the Hail way officials accidents to trains were averted.
