fPjEB Times Special Wiee.l The City of Fires. Auckland, June 1. A fire in Graham street, at a house occupied by Mr Anderson, of the Metropolitan Hotel, did serious damage to a four-roomed wooden cottage owned by Mrs Shepherd. The fire brigade were promptly on the spot, and extinguished the fire. It was insured in the Victoria office for £3OO. The Detached SquadronReliable information has been received that the detached squadron will visit Auckland, being due hero on the 28th June, and will remain at least 5 days, then go to the Fiji. Another Blaze. Napier, June 1. _ The district school building at Kaikora was totally destryed by fire last night. It was insured for £4OO in the South British and the risk was divided between fourteen offices forming the Napier Insurance Association, which has taken over all the Board’s schools in the district. Appeal Court. Wellington, June 1. The arguments in cases before the Appeal Court have been finished, and Court has adjourned until Friday, when judgment will be given. The Top Blown off At Gear’s boiling-down establishment at Petoni, yesterday, the top of one of the vats, filled with fat, blew off, destroying the roof of the building. The occurrence is attributed to a sudden contact of the steam with the cold iron. No person was injured. County Council DelegatesThe delegates of County Councils met this morning. Mr Hutchison, Mayor of Wellington, was elected chairman and Mr Page, City Treasurer, was appointed Secretary. The meeting then adjourned until Friday. Another Unfortunate. Dunedin, June 1. Peter McGuire is supposed to have been drowned on Saturday night whilst crossing the Molyneux at Moa Flat.
