[Per Times Special Wibe.l Electoral. Yv ellington, May 2G. Writs for Grey Valley uni Nelson City elections have been issued. Tho former is made returnable for June 22 and the latter for June 15. Young “Hearts of Oak-” Atthe meeting of the Naval Brigade it was resolved, almost unanimously, to form all the Naval Brigades in New Zealand into one body, and Captain Johnston was instructed to consult with tho captains of other Brigades to give effect to the same. Fine Remitted. The Government have remitted the fine imposed onKnigge, the proprietor of the Brunswick Hotel, who was recently convicted of selling liquor on a Sunday, to an invalid lady. Alleged MurderBlenheim, May 26. It is stated that a man named David Lea, who died at Havelock on the 10th inst, was stabbed two mouths previously with a file in the region of the heart, by a woman named Rankin, with whom he co habited. He was attended for this stab by a Havelock quack, and a day or two before bis death, be was seen by Dr Cummock. It is suposed that the latter gentleman knew nothing of the stab, and when Lee died ho gave a certificate to tho effect that death was the result of typhoid fever. The police heard nothing of the case until a few days ago, but have since prosecuted inquiries, with the result that Lee’s body will be exbiimed and a post mortem examination made. Inspector Goodall has gone to Havelock to superintend the arrangements for an inquest and conduct the case for the police. Retired. Oamabu, May 26. Mr T. W. Parker, who has been Resident Magistrate here for twenty years, took leave of the Bench to-day. The whole of the legal practitioners were present to bid His Worship farewell. Bigamy. Henry Cheriton, charged with bigamy, .was dismissed, as lhe first marriage was solemnized in England. There are no witnesses in the colony. Settling UpDunedin, May 26. The following is the settling up at the Birthday races :—A. Smith, £3O ; McLean, £SO ; Bate, £100: Johns, £110; Lunn, £4O, Serious Charge. At Naseby, Robert Gollans and Abraham Dilworth, both young men, were brought up on a charge of committing a rape on two women of bad character. One of the women is about sixty years of age. Another young man is charged with aiding and abetting. The three prisoners were remanded till Friday. The population of the borough of Naseby is 560 and of County Maniototo 2454.
