The charges against Abbott, for holding sweeps on races again failed to day, the information being ruled bad on objection taken by defendant's counsel. Careless Shooting. Hawbra, May 7. It is reported that a man was shot on the Waimate Plains: to-day; oni making enquires it was learnt that it,, took place on the Mountain road. Two men were on a bullock dray and gave chase to a pig, in the excitement, one was shot through the thigh. Dr attended and dressed the wound. The case is serious. Slugs were Used.
