Large parcels' of wheat continue to arrive daily from the interior, and the grain ships are receiving prompt despatch, the surf-boats being kept busily at work. Oats are coming forward slowly, but it is believed that after the wheat harvest has been dispersed of, the stocks of this cereal that are evidently held back at present will gradually pour in. Prices shew signs of hardening. We quote wheat 3s 4d to 3s 6d ; oats, Is 5d to Is 6d ; ’ barley, unsaleable. Grass seeds unchanged.

The Winchester fair on Wednesday last was well attended and bidding was spirited, 3250 sheep, 50 rams, and 166 head cattle were yarded, as well as a number of pigs and a few horses. Subjoined are the lots sold and the prices obtained ; Messrs Wildie, Allan and Stumbles sold —r!B4 cross-bred ewes, at 8s 3d ; 2 fat Cows, £5 10s; 9 yearlings, £2; 4 calves, 17s; 43 pigs, at from 16s to 26s 6d. .Mr K. F. Gray sold—9 Romney rams, at 10s; 28 head prime fat cattle, at £8 ; 3 heifers, £6; 13 steers and heifers, from £3 7s 6d to £4 10s; 4 draught horses at £lO.

Mr Moss Jonas sold 443 half-bred ewes 9s ; 10 Romney Marsh rams at £1 ; 5 ditto, 15s ; 28 sucking pigs, at from 8s to 8s 3d ; 10 head of fat cattle, £5 2s 6d ; 10 ditto at £5 5s ; 2 ditto, £9 ; 2 heifers £4 15s ; 2 cows, in calf, £9 1 cow and calf, £6 : 2 ditto, £5 10s.

Messrs Maclean and Stewart sold 10 dry ewes at from £3 10s to £5 5s . 4 ditto, at £1 10s ; 360 merino wethers, in low condition; at Is lid ; 240 ewes, at 6s 8d : 300 ditto cross-breds at 7s 7d ; 430 merino ewes, at 5s 2d ; 19 pigs, at 25s ;1 filly, £5 15s.

Messrs Mundell and Co sold 100 crossbred sheep, at 10s 3d ; 88 ditto, 7s 5d ; 3 rams, 21s ; a few fat sheep, 10s 7d ; 3 fat cows, £6 19s ; 4 springing cows, £4 2s 6d ; 3 2-year old steers, £2 7s 6d ; 5 calves, £1 3s 6d ; 3 2-year old heifers, £3 10s. DUNEDIN MARKET. Mr Donald Stronach Con behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency 00., Limited), reports for the week ending April 6, as follows : Fat Cattle.—At this day’s market 214 head were yarded, the greater part of which were sold at about last week’s prices, but several head not reaching owner’s ideas, were turned out. Bullocks fetched from £4 2s 6d to £lO 7s 6d, and cows £3 10s to £9 7s 6d. Fat Sheep.—The market was well supplied with 2028 head, of which 1572 were cross-bred, the remainder being merino stores. Demand was fairly brisk, and the cross-breds were sold at from 8s 9d to 14s 3d, showing an improvement of Is to Is 6d per head on last week’s prices ; the merinos were knocked down at 5s 6d. Fat Lambs.—77 were sold at from 10s to 10s 6d per head. Fat Pigs.—l3l offered realised from 11s to 625. Oats, Is 5d to Is 7d per bushel; milling wheat, 3s 6d to 3s 9d per bushel; fowls’ feed, 2s to 3s; barley, malting, 2s 6d to 3s 6d ; feed, Is 9d to 2s 6d per bushel; hay, £3 per ton ; chaff, £2 15s per ton ; straw, £2 per ton; bran, £3 per ton ; pollard, £4 per ton ; flour, £9 10s to £lO per ton ; oatmeal, £9 per ton ; butter, fresh, 8d to 9d ; salt, 6d to 8d; eggs, Is 9d; bacon in rolls, 8d; side, BJd; hams, XOJd; fresh pork, 4£d per lb ; potatoes, £2 15s to £3 per ton. Auckland, April .8, The produce trade is improving. Oats are brisker, and good samples fetch 2s and upwards, whilst milling qualities reach as high as 2s. 4d. A prime sample fetched 2s 3|d at auction. Adelaide, April 8. Wheat, per bushel, 4s 4d to 4s 5d ; little business has been done during the week.
