ALLEGED WHOLESALE SHEEPSTEALING.

SECOND EDITION

[By Telegraph.j

Wellington, April 9

Fred Maistland Hadfield has been arrested on a charge of being an accessory to the Jarcenj' of 1000 sheep. The case arises out of the uncompleted sale of the Abbotsford Station, on the Tauren river, Wairarapa, by the late J. Galligan to Hadfield, father of the accused, who, after making the purchase, attempted to draw out of it. An action was then brought against him in the Supreme Court to compel him to carry out his contract, and through other causes he was subsequently obliged to relinquish the property. It is now alleged that he sold 1000 sheep which were included in the purchase of the station, although the N.Z.L. and M.A. Company had a lien upon them.
