wool adheres firmly, as if it was woven into the rest of the texture. The most brilliant and expensive of dyes are employed, and colors of every shade, all remarkable for their richness, are produced. Mr Coburn has had a lengthened experience in this kind of work, and the skins he uses being well selected, he can guarantee that they will give the utmost satisfaction. In quality and appearance they are before any imported mats, and they are produced for about half the price, a beautiful mat of lambskin that will defy the wear and tear of years, being sold for half a guinea. As Mr Coburn’s manufactures become known we have no doubt they will come into eager request.

We understand that in connection with the farewell bah to be held by the Fire Brigade to-morrow evening at the Oddfellows’ Hall, Barnard street, a torchlight procession will take place, starting from the place of meeting and proceeding to the Hall. The Timaru Volunteer Artillery Band will be in attendance and head the procession. Arrangements have been made in case the small torches should, like the municipal dogs, be impounded, to substitute others, and the procession will be rendered as imposing as possible under the circumstances. A very large number of tickets have been sold, and as a first class orchestra, consisting of’ piano, violin, and band, has been engaged, we have no doubt the ball will be not only a decided expression of sympathy but a decided success both socially and pecuniarily.

Mr Moss Jonas will dispose of a quantity of superior household furniture at his rooms to-morrow.
