The Victorian Reform Bill,

Melbourne, March 4,

In the Legislative Assembly last night the Bill introduced by Mr Graham Berry for the reform of the Constitution was read a second time without a division. Mr Murray Smith then moved that a conference of the two Houses should be held, to agree, if possible to a compromise on the measure, Mr Berry objected to the proposal at the present, and denounced it as unconstitutional aud unprecedented. Sir John O’Shanassy and Messrs David Gaunson and Wrixon supported the motion, but the debate was finally adjourned to next sitting. A caucus of Opposition members was held jmsterday, at which Messrs Murray Smith and J. G. Francis were elected joint leaders of the party in the Assembly. In the Legislative Assembly to-night, the debate on Mr Murray Smith’s proposal fora Conference of the two Houses on the Reform question was resumed, but it now stands further adjourned to Tuesday next. , Intercolonial Cricket. Sydney, March, 4. A cricket match between the Australian team and a combined eleven of New South Wales and Victoria, was commenced here to-day. The weather was fine. The combined team went first to the wickets and when play closed fn r the day, were all out for 197. Massie with 80, and Bannerman with 07 were top scorers. When the sttnnps were drawn for the day, the Australians had scored 49 runs with the loss of one wicket.
