Another Effort. Melbourne, March 3. It is considered to be improbable that the division on the Reform Bill to-night in the Assembly will be a party one. After the second reading, Mr Murray Smith will move to refer the Bill to a joint Committee of the Council and Assembly, but it is not known what action Government will take in the matter. The “ Argus ” Denounced A discussion took place in the Assembly last night on the question of prosecuting the “ Argus ” for its criticisms on the actions of the Govern ment, but the matter was allowed to drop without any decision being come to. —Combes, K.M.G., gave notice of motion in favor of a petition to the Queen praying for the institution of an enquiry into the working of the Court of the High Commissioner of the Western Pacific. Conflicting Stumors. It is stated that there is no justification for the present rush to the Grey Ranges goldfields, on the western border of this colony, as there is a total absence of trustworthy information concerning the prospects of the ground.
