Garrard, the unemployed agitator, charged his wife at the Police Court today with illusing and threatening to poison him, Mrs Garrard said her husband was a loafer and would talk but would not work. The magistrate dismissed the case advising them to settle their domestic differences amicably. The Albion Inquiry. The captain and mate of the Isabella Pratt, both swore that the lights on the schooner were burning up to the time of the collision. The mate said heexamiued them after the steamer came in sight. A Comedy of Errors. Mr Rochefort, barrister, has advised Taiaroa that he is still a member of the Legislative Council, and therefore ineligible to hold his seat, if elected for the Maori electoral district in the. Wise was appointed Judge at his previous salary, each Club contributing £6O. Destruction of Shops. A fire destroyed certain shops in North-East Yalley occupied by Henry Miller, chemist, and Henry Bloxham, painter. Owing to the great scarcity of -water, there was considerable difficulty in preventing the flames from spreading to the Cattle Market Hotel. Bloxham’s stock was insured in the Transatlantic for £125, and his furniture for £125 in the North British, but he estimates his loss at £IOO above that. Miller was insured but he saved all his stock and effects.
