A difference lias arisen between Pitt. m?in, the agent of the Australian cricketers, and the Auckland management committee, through Pittman objecting to the terms accepted by Halifax in Dunedin on behalf of the cricketers, that Auckland shall receive a quarter of the takings and a lump sum of £SO. The dispute will not interfere with the match.

Suspected Incendiarism.

Oamaru, Feb. 17

On Tuesday a stack of barley comprising 250 bags belonging to T. G. Duncan, was burned. It was insured for £l2O in the New Zealand office. Incendiarism is strongly suspected, as last night a shed on another part of the same farm, containing machinery, implements, &c., was burned down. Neither the shed nor the contents were insured.

Death from Drowning;.

Dunedin. Feb. 17

James Cowie, 28 years and unmarried, was drowned while bathing at Lovell’s Creek. He had been 10 years in the colony.
