COMMERCIAL.
CANTERBURY CORN EXCHANGE REPORT. The following is the report for the week ending Friday evening, Feb. 11, 1881 :
Little or no business bus been transacted during the week. Farmers arc still busy harvesting the grain. The weather up to tire present has been extremely favorable, and a large portion of the grain, is now in stack. The business done during the week has been of an unimportant character. Prices cannot be said as yet to be determined. Many farmers are undecided whether to sell at the prices offering or take the risk of the Home market themselves. Wheat. —Last year’s samples of good sound milling qualify are worth from Ms 9d to 4s. For wheat of good quality 3s Gd to 3s Sd is being offered. Chick wheat, 2s to 2s 9d per bushel.
Outs. —There is no alteration in prices since last week. Good stout milling samples from Is (id to Is 7d ; feeil samples Is 3d to Is 5d per bushel. Barley.—A few transactions have taken place in the new crop. Really first-class malting will command from 3s 3d to 3« 7d. Second rate malting nominal. Feed Is 3d to Is Gd per bushel.
Grass Seed.—A few sales of the new crop have been made. Really wellcleaned heavy seed, 3s to 3s 3d per bushel (brisk demand.) Cheese and Butter. —There is no change to report in values during the week. The former is in plentiful snp[ ly from old to 4d per lb., the latter Gd per lb.
