Sydney, Feh. 10.
The Hon. John Watson, Colonial Treasurer, introduced his Financial Statement in t-he Legislative Assembly last night. He estimates the revenue for the year at £5,440,000, and the expenditure at £5,232,000. ISo material changes are proposed in the estimates of expenditure, except a reduction of phe-third in the iijjiiiigration rote. Mr Watson announced that the railways of the colony are paying 4| per cent on the capital sunk in their construction. He disclaimed any intention on the part of the Government to raise a new loan in the London market at present, but stated a loan for £6oo*ooo might possibly he issued in the colony at an early date. - Now Gold Discoveries. . News has been received that gold has been discovered on the Barrier ranges on the western border of this colony. Appearances are said to be very promising, and there is every prospect of a great rush. The rear Guard. Melbourne, Feb. 10.
