Betting—Even on Libeller, Dan and Norseman being next in order of betting. After one false start the horses were sent away. The Governor was the first to show in front, and led past the Stand, with Norseman and Luna in closej attendance, Libeller and Dan keep ng some distance behind. At the turn Libeller commenced to creep up to the leader, and at the back of the course all five were in a cluster. Norseman now showed in front with the Governor and Libeller one length in the rear. Norseman was the first to enter the straight, The Governor lying second but Libeller gallantly responding to a call from his jockey, came with a rush, and after a severe struggle with Norseman won by a neck, The Governor being a length away. Time —3min 13 i secs. ladies’ purse. Billingsgate 1 Miss Domett 2

Only two started, and Miss Domett led until fifty yards from home, when Billingsgate made his effort and won by a length. CONSOLATION STAKES. Dan 1 Mischief 2 Cassivelaunus filly... ... 3 Mischief held the lead to the straight when she was challenged by Dan, the latter winning by one length, Mischief second apparently hard held. Time —1 min 45sec. The totalisator was well patronised during the day.
