THE GRAIN RATES.

The ‘‘Gazette” of January 27 contains the regulations and rates for the conveyance of agricultural produce which are lixed to come into force on February 9. The minimum quantity is two tons; any less quantity will be charged as such minimum or as class D. At all stations, except at Auckland, Onchunga, Spit, Wellington, Foxton, Wanganui, Waitara, Greymouth, Westport, Nelson Port, Picton, Blenheim, Lyttelton, Christchurch, Timaru, Oamaru, Port Chalmers, Dunedin, Invercargill, and the Bluff, the loading and unloading into and from the trucks may be done by the owners. When so done, or when loaded into the shed owing to trucks not being available after reasonable notice is given, the classified rates only will be charged. When loading or unloading is done by the railway depart ment at stations, 6d per ton in addition to the classified rates will be charged for each operation. At all private stores and sidings the loading or unloading shall be done by the owners. Class E, ex ship will be charged as class D.
