CPee “Times” Special Wiee.l Sad End of a Parliamentarian. Wellington, Jan. 8. A man munedJJ. W. Jordan, formerly Clerk in the Legislative Council, was found dead outside the Kailway Hotel at the Lower Hutt, at 5 o’clock this morning. Jordan was last seen alive last night at the hotel. He was under the inlluence of liquor, and the landlord had him put to bed and locked the door. It is supposed that Jordan attempted to get out of a window when he fell and was killed, his neck being broken. Deceased recently received £7OO and had been drinking heavily of late. Apologising- for the Bar. Dunedin. Jan. 7. The Harbor Board authorities deny that the To Anau was drawing only 14| feet when she touched. It was also last quarter flood tide. An Investment Realised. A four*roomed house at Port Chal-
mers, occupied by George Madigan, was burned down. It was insured in the Standard for £l5O.
