TIMARU BOROUGH COUNCIL.
An adjourned ordinary meeting of the Council was held last evening. Present—His Worship the Mayor, and Councillors Jackson, Greenup, Filracr, Cullman, Sherratt, Shepherd, and Gibson.
The following correspondence was read : From Mr Marshman, Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christchurch, in reply to a communication from the Council in reference to the Council’s powers in preventing persons trespassing on the water-race reserves, stating that the Public iieserves’ Act rendered any person so trespassing liable to a penalty of £SO, and intimating that he had conferred all the powers under this Act upon Inspector Pender, who would act if necessary. From a resident in Hussell Square, complaining of the state of the lagoon in the centre of the Square, and enclosing a letter from the Health Ollicer on the subject. From Messrs Laidlaw, Son, and Co., London, acknowledging receipt of order for iron pipes.
From Mr E. Elworthy, in reference to land now used as a road on his property, and requesting His Worship to name a day to meet him.
