MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office Timaru, for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : Saturday, Jan 1. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Arawata at fi a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day) being a Post Office holiday, all Post Offices in the postal district of Timaru will be closed on that day. Local mails usually despatched on Saturdays, will be closed on Friday, the 31st inst. at 8 p.m The Chief Post Office, Timaru, will be open to the public on Friday evening, from 8.30 to 9.30 p.m., for the delivery of letters from the delivery departments, also those usually delivered by the letter carriers (Signed) W.
