NATIVE AFFAIRS.

[By TELEGRAPH.] Auckland, Dec. 28. Intelligence from the King Country report* that Tawhiao is establishing a large settlement at Kauhea, and constructing a road in order to connect that place with Hiknrangi. The natives have prepared an old Hour mill and propose to erect another at Kawhaia. They profess to be anxious for peace, and disclaim any sympathy with Parihaka or the murder of Miss Dobie. There is a dispute between two sections of the Ngatemaniopotos, under Kewi and Hanauru respectively. The former recently placed the Messrs Tole on a disputed block of land near Orahau, but Hanauru, representing the objectors, turned off the surveyors and threatens to burn down Tole’s house, erected on the block at Ngaruawati.
