NATIVE AFFAIRS.
- [By Telegraph.] Auckland, Dec. 28. Intelligence from the King Country reports that Tawhiao is establishing a large settlement at Kauhea, and constructing a road in order to connect that place with Hikurangi. The natives have prepared an old Hour mill and propose to erect another at Kawluiia. They profess to be anxious for peace, and disclaim any sympathy with Parihaka or the murder of Miss Dobie. There is a dispute between two sections of the Ngatemaniopotos, under Ilcwi and Llanauru respectively. The former recently placed the Messrs Tolc on a disputed block of laud near Orahau, but llanauru, representing the objectors, turned oil' the surveyors and threatens to burn down Tole’s house, erected on the block at Ngaruawati.
