MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office Timaru, for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : Thursday, Dec 30.

For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Wanaka, at 2 30 p.m. Friday', Dec, 31.

For the United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, America, West Indies, Africa, Ac, via Han Francisco, and the Sandwich Islands, as follows : ' Money orders at 4 p.m.

Registered letters at 3 p.m. Letters, books, and newspapers, at 10 p.m. Late fee letters bearing one additional rate per letter, may be posted at the Railway travelling I’ost Office mail van (Northern Express Train) till 3.20. The above mails will be due at San Francisco on Jan. 27, and London on Feb. 15, 1881.

Saturday, Jan 1, For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Arawata at 6 a.rn.

Saturday, Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day) being a Post Office holiday, all Post Offices in the postal district of Tiinaru will be closed on that day. Local mails usually despatched on Saturdays, will be closed on Fridaj’, the 31st inst. at 8 p.m The Chief Post Office, Timaru, will be open to the public on Friday evening, from 8.30 to 9.30 p.m., for the delivery of letters from the delivery departments, also those usually delivered by the letter carriers.
