* ■** T^vr.lo Road Board was held yesterday, present— Alessrs Beswick (Chairman) Aloody, Alacintosh, Show, and Mce. A letter was read from the Treasury notifying that the sum of £9lO 13s 6d had been paid in to the credit of the Board, being subsidy on rates. From .John Patrick and others re the formation and shingling of the St. John’s Wood roads. The Overseer was instructed to report. AVith regard to an application from Alessrs Eogerson and Patterson re certain shingling it was also resolved to get the Overseer to report. E, Cartwiight’.s tender for contract 35 was accepted at £lB. Accounts amounting to £778 16s lid were passed for payment. Alessrs Buckle and Wilson interviewed the Board re Seadown roads. Unsolved that the Overseer report on the same at next meeting. It was also, resolved that the Clerk advertise the election of two members for the Point -Ward, and one for the Seadown Ward for the year 1881.

Peacock and Geaney, AVest End Butchery Church street, while thanking their patrons for past favors wish to intimate that in accordance with their annual custom, they have arranged for a Grand Christmas Show of meat. No expense has on this occasion been spared in securing the very cream of the stock of South Canterbury, and the exhibition of beef, veal, mutton, lamb, porkers, sucking pigs, small goods and other delicacies, will be one that has never yet been approached in Tintaru or surpassed in the colony. The proprietors encouraged by the result of their previous efforts to tickle the palates and suitably furnish the tables of the meat consuming public during the Christinas festival, have resolved to make the forthcoming exhibition something worthy of the richest agricultural and pastoral district in New Zealand. The show will be ready for inspection at 1 p.ni., on Thursday, Dec 23. ,'Advt.]
