WAIMATE RACING CLUB.

At a meeting of the Waimate Racing Club on Tuesday, the following officers were appointed for the next race meeting, which will be held on Jan. 1: — Judge and handicapper, Mr M. Studholme ; treasurer, Mr J. Molloy ; clerk of the course, Mr E. H. Cameron ; starter, Mr M'Goverin ; clerk of the scales, Mr M. Mytton; stewards, Messrs A. Turnbull, Or. F. Lovegrove, P. Jones, \V. J. Steward, R. M‘Owen, A. Hayes, H, Middleton, J. Mol 103', Jacobs, J Dooley, M'Goverin, and G. Pratt; canvassing committee,lvlessrsM'Goverin, M‘Owen, Middleton and the Secretary ; course committee, Messrs Molloy, Potter, Jacobs, and Studholme. The following programme was approved of : Hurdle Race handicap of 30 sovs; over eight hurdles ; two miles. Waimate County Hack Hurdle Race of 15 sovs, for all horses that have never won a stake exceeding £10; must be the bona fide property of a resident of the county; no weight under lOst; 1* miles. Waimate Handicap of £SO; two miles. County Purse handicap of £25 ; one mile ; horses to be the bona fide property of a resident in the county for six months previous to the date of entry. Publicans’ Handicap of £3O; one mile and a half. Hack Selling Race of 15 sovs; half mile heats; winner to be sold for 10 sovs, and any surplus to go to funds; no weight under Bst. Consolation Race (handicap) of 15 sovs; one mile. Nominations for all handicaps addressed to the Secretary must be sent in on or before 8 p.m. on Dec. 13, and acceptances on Dec 21. The weights will be declared on Dec. 17, and a qualification fee of £1 Is will be required. The C.J.C. rules will be strictly adhered to. Some disappointment was expressed at the meeting, at the refusal of Mr Sherwin to act as handicapper or to have anything to do with the Club, no reason being advanced by that gentleman for the course adoped by him.
