[Reuteu’s Agency.l Walking- Tournament. Melboukxe, Dec. 2. In tlie six days walking- tournament, which commenced on Monday, Barker, Seymour and Swan (of New Zealand), had each done 150 miles up to midnight last night. Six competitors now remain in. Colonial Federation. The Intercolonial Conference has adopted resolutions in favor of a Federal Council. Legislation on the Chinese question has been adjourned until a meeting of the Conference at Sydney on January 15th, when all the colonies will be invited. Cricketers in Clover. The Australian cricketers received a most hearty welcome back after their English tour, and at the Town Hall today Mr Street, of Dunedin, on behalf of the Otago cricketers, presented Mr Murdoch, captain of the team, with a handsome gold bat. The Mayor entertains them to-night. Abortive Proceedings. Adelaihe, Dec. 2. The Court of Enquiry into the strand, ing of the Sorata, which has been sitting for some days now, has decided that it has no jurisdiction in the matter. The Sorata sailed for Melbourne today.
