TIMARU—THIS DAY
(Before M essrs Woollcombe and F. LeCren, J.P.’s.) ALLEGED LARCENY. William Buttorworth, poundkooper, was charged with the larceny of corrugated iron of (be value of 18s, the property of Richard Green. Mr White appeared for the accused, who pleaded not guilty. Mr Hannucrsley appeared to prosecute Austin Kirby, detective, deposed arresting accused yesterda}" on a warrant. He admitted the charge, and said that the iron was his property. Mr White intimated that having been retained only half an hour previously he was unprepared with the defence and would therefore ask for a remand. Mr Hamersley was prepared to go on with the case, but would not oppose a remand if desired byjtbe other side. The accused was remanded until Wednesday next, bail being accepted, himself in the sum of £25, and one surety of £25. The court then adjourned.
