ASHBURTON AGRICULTURAL SHOW.
The Ashburton Agricultural Show came of yesterday, but coming as it did between the Christchurch and Oamaru exhibitions, it was not such a success as had been anticipated. The sheep exhibits were not so numerous as usual, Messrs Gould and Cameron, and Hawdon were the principal exhibitors of Merinos, and Messrs Wilkin and Carter shewed some fine Lincolns and Lciccsters. The competition in the cattle c’asscs lay between Digby Joyce and Wilkin and Carter. The display of horses was rather meagre and the quality was somewhat indifferent. The implement exhibits wore mostly old favourites, and the dairy produce was dissolved into salad oil under the tropical rays. Among the best features of.the Show wore the Kaiapoi woollen exhibits, Austin and Kirk’s (ireday and earthenware manufactures, Mr Jacobson’s floral trophy, and Wood and Co.’s “ homo brewed.”
