IM)M ICSTIC TROUBLES, John Bassett was charged with failing to provide for his wife Elizabeth Bassett, and also with deserting the said Elizabeth Bassett. Mr Austin appeared for the complainant, and Mr Hamersley for the defendant. Elizabeth Bassett statad that she had left her husband at his request in April last, and had since lived at Geraldine. .She had not lived with her husband since although he had asked her to stop with him on one occasion. She had received no money from him whatever. He was a fireman receiving bs a day. Complainant had been in service since their separation.

By Mr Hamersley—Had not been near her husband since lie got his order of discharge. The quarrel originated in her husband’s jealousy of a man named •John Hay. Was not aware why her husband was jealous of Haj-. At this stage His Worship said he Hip tight it was a great pity that a ease of .this kind should bo brought before the Court. With the consent of the counsel on both sides, he would adjourn the ease for a week, in order to see whether the parties could not come to some amicable arrangement. Counsel consenting, the case was adjourned accordingly. Al’TI LIATIOX. An affiliation case was adjourned until Friday next.
