FATAL ACCIDENT AT WINCHESTER.

A fatal accident occurred atWinchester on Sunday evening. It appears that Andrew Maepberson, son of the late Captain Maepherson, left Winchester for (leraldine on Sunday evening in company with two other persons. Shortly after passing the river the three started lacing, bid on reaching the road turning down to Mr De Kenzy’s place, Mr Maepherson was lost sight of. His companions, after proceeding some distance, returned and halloed, but receiving no response, concluded that Mr Maepherson had turned oif the Main Hoad, and they therefore went home. About 11 o’clock yesterday forenoon the. dead body of Mr Macph rson was found near Mr Dellenzy’s house. He was lying with his face downwards on the side of the road. The body

was conveyed to the Winchester Hotel md Dr Fish being sent for gave it as his opinion that death resulted from suffocation, the face of the deceased being buried in the grass. The riderless horse was found feeding some f hstance from the body, and the natural presumption is that the animal swerved suddenly, throwing Mr Macpherson to the ground and stunning him.
