Railway.
All the railways in Victoria are State property. In December, 1879, there were 11251 miles open, 1741 of which were laid with double lines, inc cost of construction, etc., was an average of £13,645 per mile. About 4,000,000 miles were traversed every year. The total receipts were £1,500,000, expenses, £750,000. This should pay.
