BLASTING ACCIDENT.
SECOND EDITION
A man named Fall, a contractor, met with a serious accident yesterday. He was employed at Stansell’s quarry, on the Wai-iti Road, and was in the act of tamping a blast, when the charge exploded, seriously injuring one of his hands. A mate of Fall s who was standing near, also received some slight injury from the explosion. The sufferers were at once conveyed to the residence of Dr Macintyre, who dressed Fall’s hand, which was much blackened with gunpowder. The nature of the injury, which was confined to the hand, is hardly ascertained as yet, it being uncertain whether Fall will not have to suffer the amputation of the injured member. The other man escaped with a slight scorching.
