RUMORED CHANGES IN THE CABINET.

[By Telegraph.] Wellington, Oct. 11. Rumors with reference to the reconstruction of the Cabinet are beginning to take definite shape. It is said that Major Atkinson will be relieved of the Defence portfolio, and will succeed Mr Bryce as Native Minister. Mr Rolleston is vaguely spoken of as Defence Minister. Mr Sheehan’s name also crops up, but it is scarcely likely that he will take office in any Ministry for some time to come. Practically, he is at present Native Minister, it being perfectly well known in well-informed circles that Mr Bryce does nothing without consulting him. Mr Sheehan, it is said, suggested Mr Bryce’s letter to Wiremu Kingi, and after it was drafted revised it into the form in which it was sent and ■ "subsequently published.—“LytteltonTiraes” correspondent.
