[Eeuteb’s Agency.] Dancing Dervishes. Melbourne, October 6. His Excellency the Governor gave a grand ball at the Government House last night, at which 2500 guests were present. It was a brilliant success. The Victorian Exhibition Commissioners entertain the Governors and other distinguiahed visitors at a ball at the Town Hall on the 12th, and at a conversazione at the Exhibition on the night of the 14th inst. Revenue onjthe Decline. , The revenue of Victoria during last quarter amounted to £1,092,000, being, a decrease of £4IOO as compared with the corresponding quarter last year. A Steamer Disabled. The s.s. Albion has broken her shaft twenty miles from Wilson’s Promo ntory. Assistance is required. Newspaper Agitation. Sydney, Oct. 29. A crowded meeting was held last night to consider the best means of showing sympathy with the “ Evening News” in connection with the contempt of court case. It was resolved —“ That the Judge’s action is calculated to endanger the liberty of the subject the meeting further decided to make an appeal to pay the line of £250 imposed on the paper.
