That blessed baby had been bowling in the street car for nine blocks, until 1 everybody else in the car bad escaped except a bald-beaded, old Galvestonian, who rubbed the top of bis dome of thought, scowled, stamped, fumed, and gave other evidences of being annoyed. “ 1 hope the baby don’t disturb yon, sir,” said the mother pleasantly. “ No, madam, it does not,” he said, savagely grinding his teeth. “I am so glad. I was afraid it did—little tootsy, wootsy, yum, yum, yum.” “ No, madam, it don’t disturb me,” he said more savagely “ Little tootsy fiddlesticks only disturbs people in the adjoining county. It lias made a chattering idiot of me five blocks ago.” Last evening Mr Chalet delivered IngcrsoU's well known lecture, on the Mistakes of Moses’, at the Theatre Iloyal. Notwithstanding the wind and rain the attendance was excellent, and the lecturer was listened to, with close attention throughout. The performance of a little appropriate music preceded Mr! Chalet’s appearance on the stage. Before commencing, the lecturer remarked that he would take that opportunity of advising an} r person, whose religious susceptibilities were very sensitive, to at once retire. No one retired and the lecturer then proceeded. Mr Chalet is a finished elocutionist, and the author of the lecture, by whom it was originrdly delivered in Chicago could not have rendered it with more force, or invested it with more interest.
