A case of horse-whipping; took place this aflernoon, under the following circumstances : ■ —’The assailant, Captain Kerr, was walking along Queen street when lie met Dr Smith, who was with Messrs 11. The cause of lire affixry is thought from the language used, to ho of a domestic character. Capt. Kerr came from Sydney about two years ago, and is well known in Auckland. He made a fortune at the Cape Diamond Fields, and at about the same time he became the recipient of a legacy. He was arrested, but bailed. THIS DAY. The whorsewhipping case came before the Bench to-day. Captain Kerr, who whipped Dr Smith, was lined J.‘s and bound over to keep the peace.
