A Woman Missing. Wellington, Sept. 12A woman named Jane Burgess has been missing from the residence of Christopher Hobbs, Horokawi Valley, since the 7th inst. She left the house during the absence of Hobbs, who, .on his return home, found the following note —“ I am dead to this world ; don’t trouble about me.” A STor’.wester at Christchurch. Christchurch, Sept. 10. A furious north-west wind is blowing here. Champion Draught Match. The draughts match between Eeid, champion of Otago, and Boswell, of Christchurch, was continued last night. The former won all the four games. The score is now—Boswell, 7 ; .Reid, 6. The last game will he played tonight. Invercargill Disgusted. Invercargill, Sept. 11. Great inconvenience is caused to witnesses at the Court through the trains from beyond Winton not arriving till ten minutes to two, and leaving at five minutes past three, thus compelling them to stop all night. The Court usually adjourns till their arrival. Owing to the inaction of the Government regarding reverting to the old time-table, a memorial is about to he set on foot. The Waimea Plains Railway Company are said to be violating the provisions of the District Railways Act, which provide for two trains each way daily, while only one is running.
